2 weeks and several degrees later . . . Unbelieveable!

We went for another Sunday drive today after our dinner. It was so beautiful today. We ate out on the deck. Dad had a great view of Timp and I had a great view of the lake. I couldn't believe that the lake looked like open water and then I saw a couple of boats out in the middle. So as soon as we finished eating we headed down to the lake! What an amazing difference. Everything was completely open and there were several boats coming and going. There was only a small amount ice on the end of both jetties. I can't believe that ALL that ice is gone. People were out fishing from the shore.





This is the big cement circle that Jace and Tanner and Lauren and Emma were in just two weeks ago. They just posted the picture to their blog yesterday. The difference is amazing. We have been having incredibly warm days in the 60's and 70's and above freezing at night. We added their picture so you could see the amazing difference in 13 days. WOW!






I just love these pictures. Because of the bright sun they are quite dark so it looks much later. They were actually taken at the same time as all the others. We are excited to find some time to take the boat out. Spring has come to the lake. I just love winters here. It only takes it's share of the year and doesn't drag on and on. Hope you enjoy the pictures. We sure do love ALL you guys.

Our Great FHE Activity

We went for a Sunday drive yesterday afternoon. It was such a beautiful day and so we drove down by the lake. The ice that was pushed up on the shore was so incredible that we decided to come back after work today while there was still daylight so we could take pictures for you all to see. I'm going to put the last pictures first so you can see them in order. We got out there just before 6 PM and got back about 7PM. It was a beautiful sunset. You'll see that the wind and the wave action pushed all these big ice chunks onto the shore. These are as you leave the bay to go out onto the lake. The highest part is at the end of the jetty. We took pictures of it from the 1st jetty and then we went and parked on the other side of the bay and walked out onto the newest jetty to the highest part of the ice. The last pictures are from the jetty across to the mountain over by Pelican Point and the south end of Saratoga Springs. We had so much fun. It was beautiful.

Grandpa is sitting right out on the edge of the entrance to the lake. You can see the high ice on the other side of the opening.


Grandpa is headed out onto the lake. We're glad he didn't fall through.


Grandpa is out on the lake at the entrance to the harbor. The great big pile of ice on the other side is huge. You'll see close-up pictures of them further down.


You can see how thick the ice is. (As thick as Grandma's head!)


Grandpa is headed out across the bay towards the new jetty. He gave me the keys just in case!! We're glad it held.


You can see how the ice has pushed up these large pieces of concrete and rock and pushed over the trees.

This is looking on the side where the Provo River comes into the lake so the water is open. On the other side of where we are standing is the completely frozen bay.

Looking back at the Big Huge ice pile. It's getting dark and some places on the jetty we have to use rocks as stepping stones to get across some large sections of ice water!
